Your Monday Post #127: Katie Lea Burchill vs Mickie James for the Women’s Championship at Night of Champions 2008 (June, 29th 2008)

Welcome All to a rather late week opening reflective on a moment or match in women’s wrestling, and this week continues the trend on reflecting on past championship matches involving the women at past Night of Champions Pay Per Views, whether under that name or even way back as Vengeance, and indeed it wouldn’t be the first time the PPV has undergone a name change as it has recently been renamed to Clash of Champions, becoming a RAW exclusive event. Of course that event comes to us this Sunday, but lets look back at a past match at the event where the Women’s or Divas Championship would have to be defended before that can even be discussed…

Amongst the History of Matches to have happened involving the women’s championship, back in 2008 featured an underrated bout between then title holder Mickie James and an up and comer within the company at the time, Katie Lea Burchill. The Competitor also known to some in TNA as Winter had only shown her face earlier in the year before transitioning into an in ring competitor, getting the attention of Mickie James heading into Night of Champions, where every championship title is expected to be defended. The Rivalry tensed and eventually lead to them going one on one in Katie’s most high profile WWE match to date, one of which she happened to lose, but regardless, she made herself a standout amongst the women’s division.
