Cattie’s Catch Up: Six Pack Challenge for the Smackdown Womens Championship at WWE Backlash 2016 (September, 11th 2016)

Welcome All to this weeks edition of Cattie’s Catch Up, and we are just days away from the announced “Superstar Shake Up” plotted by one Vince McMahon to snatch superstars from particular rosters. The Women are very much eligible in this draft like format, and as we await with both nervousness and excitement to see who exactly gets their quality moments in the Smackdown Women’s Division as a new member, lets look back at the evolution of the Smackdown Women’s Division that began only a short time after WWE brought back their yearly brand split after a lengthy hiatus.

The Draft of 2016 saw Becky Lynch, Natalya, Nikki Bella and Naomi move from the RAW brand to the Smackdown Brand, joined by NXT Call Ups Carmella and Alexa Bliss. A Championship for the brand was introduced to put them on their own pedestal and to try and shine as much as their RAW counterparts, thus Backlash would be the proving ground and the event that would lead to the crowning of the first Smackdown Women’s Championship. Joining that match were the said women, who made their own statements beforehand, and even with Carmella rejuvenated as a heel in order to try snatch the spotlight from the very woman she had accused of doing the very same thing, Nikki Bella, the furious heel, despite eliminating Bella from that very match, was the one to fall to the match’s victor, Becky Lynch, who gained her first ever WWE championship per that victory, becoming the 3rd member of the Acclaimed Four Horsewomen to do so.
