Tamina, Charlotte and Lana Traded to Smackdown Live (April, 11th 2017)

Along with the News that Mickie James, Alexa Bliss and Maryse would be jumping ship to Monday Night RAW, The Smackdown Live Brand headed (kayfabe) by Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon would lay claim to two of RAWs Women’s Division members, and would also lay claim to welcoming back a previously injured competitor.

After welcoming out the Smackdown Women’s Divisions remaining members of Natalya, Carmella, Becky Lynch and Smackdown Women’s Champion Naomi (Nikki Bella is out to rest up from an injury) Shane announced that he would be welcoming to Smackdown his first pick, a second generational wrestler that many would first think would be Charlotte, but was instead revealed as Tamina, who returned from injury and recently worked Smackdown Live events as a babyface. Prior to Injury, Tamina had worked alongside Naomi as two halves of Team BAD, and had been in an angle with Sasha Banks, who had also been a member of their group formed in the midst of the Womens Revolution Segment in July of 2015.

But Shane would reveal that like RAW, he would also snag a second in ring competitor, introducing Charlotte, who had put over both Sasha Banks and Nia Jax prior to the trade, losing to them on the past two episodes of RAW on separate occasions, to Sasha last week in a tag team match and to Nia on this past weeks episode of RAW. The 4x RAW Women’s Champion now works the same brand as former PCB member Becky Lynch, and at the time of this writing, its unknown what the current plans are for the Smackdown Women’s Championship but Naomi had hinted wanting to face Charlotte one on one on a Previous Episode of Talking Smack.

And Finally, just some time after the news that Rusev would be the newest member of Smackdown Live, many would question whereabouts Lana would be after her name was left out of the announcement. A Vignette aired sometime later in the show to introduce Lana’s repackaged dancer like character, seemingly confirming that her time as Rusev’s manager is coming to an end. At the time of this writing, its unknown whether Lana will be a manager for a fellow superstar or whether she will be transitioning to a full time in ring performer, but the Ravishing Russian has worked NXT Live Events and expressed interest in being a future WWE Women’s Champion.

Becky Lynch reacted to the news that her former on screen rival and real life best friend Charlotte would be joining the Smackdown Live Women’s Division on Twitter. Nikki Bella also expressed her motivation to return sooner to the Brand with Charlotte now there as a competitor, with the two’s history dating back to 2015 when Charlotte ended her record breaking Divas Championship Title Reign.

Congratulations to Lana and Charlotte on their trade to Smackdown Live, and to Tamina on her return to WWE Television. Do You Think these were the right picks to expand the Smackdown Live Women’s Division? Stay Tuned to the Site for a Full Report on this weeks Smackdown Live Episode.
