Lana to Challenge Naomi for the Smackdown Womens Championship at Money in the Bank (June, 6th 2017)

Earlier tonight on Smackdown Live, it was acknowledged by Smackdown Women’s Champion Naomi that she could be going without a match at the upcoming Money in the Bank Pay Per View, originally awaiting a contender to be crowned in the historic Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match to happen on the night. However, the return of a certain Ravishing Russian has lead to a sudden feud, and a courageous Naomi went to Shane McMahon, Smackdowns General Manager, to seek a match with Lana at the Money in the Bank Pay Per View.

Lana, who was hyping her newly invented character through a series of vignettes, made her official return on tonight’s Smackdown Live episode, seemingly asking and not receiving an opportunity for the Smackdown Women’s Championship from Shane McMahon. Not taking the idea of having to earn the shot lightly, Lana reappeared amidst Naomi competing in a Backlash Tag Team Rematch, sweeping Naomi on the apron and leaving her to Tamina, who pinned her to gain the Welcoming Committee yet another victory. A Frustrated Naomi went to Shane later in the show and showed the need to face Lana, even if it meant putting her title on the line, and thus Lana’s sudden title shot had been granted, making the Women’s Championship Match Official for Money in the Bank, also making it the 2nd women’s match on the card.

Tune into WWE Money in the Bank Live on the WWE Network at 1am UK Time on Sunday June 18th/Mon 19th for Lana’s first match since WrestleMania 32 and to see who walks away as the Smackdown Women’s Champion. Other Matches include Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Carmella and Tamina squaring off in the first ever Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a future opportunity at the Smackdown Women’s Championship, plus the New Day vs the Usos for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship.
