WWE BATTLEGROUND PREDICTIONS: Five Way Number One Contenders Elimination Match (July, 23rd 2017)

Tonight (as its Sunday now here in England) brings the arrival of another WWE Pay Per View, this time Smackdown based as the stars of the blue brand compete in the Battleground. The Suitably named once dual roster event plays host this year to a five way elimination match to crown the newest contender to Naomi’s Smackdown Women’s Championship, and the five women competing for the very honor of competing for that grand title at Summerslam, the second biggest WWE event of the year, are Natalya, Tamina, Lana, Becky Lynch and Charlotte. So without further adieu, let me weigh in on exactly who could be walking out tonight with contendership status affirmed…

Theres no doubt the winning status could go to Charlotte considering shes put two women over featured in this match over past weeks, also notably on the pre PPV episode of Smackdown, meaning shes in need of momentum that she can capture on this very night. While i don’t rule out Charlotte as the winner considering WWE seem to be wanting to make Summerslam as big as possible match wise, there’s plenty backstory WWE cannot ignore with Tamina and Naomi, and Battleground will be the time to establish the connection between Tamina and new associate Lana, showing additionally how well the trickery of Lana works to aid the powerhouse Tamina towards her possible biggest victory ever. Sure its an elimination match and i can see Charlotte eliminating Lana within seconds of the match beginning, but Lana just has to be coming back to help Tamina win. Ok it may slip up and reverse the end, but Charlotte can easily get on the Summerslam PPV card either way in a side angle, whether its teaming with Becky against other members of the division, getting a singles match with Lana or her and Becky teaming against a possibly called up Billie and Peyton, but Tamina is in need of a big moment that she hasn’t really had in years and never got to get Post WrestleMania 30 due to the Paige/AJ angle SO im going with Tamina to win this match, and while the match may not look big in WWE’s eyes, the cash in that may happen regardless of the result at Summerslam may be the big moment provided.

Tune into WWE Battleground at 1am UK Time Live on the WWE Network and Sky Sports Box Office, featuring this exciting number one contenders showdown, plus the Usos defending the Smackdown Tag Team Championship against the New Day and Sami Zayn battling Mike Kanellis in a rematch from this past weeks Smackdown episode.
