Mickie James vs Deonna Purrazzo for the IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Championship Announced for IMPACT Wrestling’s Bound for Glory Pay Per View (September, 23rd 2021)
As Announced during this weeks episode of IMPACT Wrestling, the first Knockouts Match for the biggest IMPACT Wrestling event of the year, Bound for Glory, has been set, as the relentless Virtuosa, Deonna Purrazzo, defends her Knockouts Championship against former Knockout and former Knockouts Champion, Mickie James.
The feud between the two major faces of respective Impact eras kickstarted at Slammiversary when Mickie surprised the world by resurfacing in the Impact Zone after Deonna’s hard fought title defense against the surprise opponent of Thunder Rosa, accused of taking the Virtuosa’s spotlight. Mickie, nonetheless, addressed this to some degree and maintained her goal of only doing business for a time, trying to push for the talented Virtuosa, despite her attitude towards her, to be a part of the NWA Empowerrr all womens pay per view that she would be executive producing, Deonna eventually accepting Mickie’s offer. Deonna would later find that she would be pitted against a face of Mickie’s past, NWA Star Melina, who she went on to retain her championship against, taking down another legend to add to a lengthening list of accolades. Deonna then bask in Mickie’s own spotlight, spoiling the aftermath of her in ring return by attacking the former Knockouts Champion the night following Empowerrr at NWA 73, and has since received physical receipts from Mickie, who has reverted from her executive producing role to return to being a full on competitor. Another heated scrap following also heated words on this weeks Impact lead to a pull apart brawl and Scott D’Amore getting involved in the ongoing chaos to ensure Mickie would get her earned match against Deonna, booking Deonna against the legendary competitor, Knockouts Title on the line at Bound for Glory.
