WWE 205 LIVE RESULTS: Moon Explores Rebounding Options and finds Newfound Aggression in Visit to the Purple Brand (September, 24th 2021)

Welcome all to another WWE 205 Live report, as the women of WWE are featured on the usually cruiserweight centric brand for the fourth consecutive week running. Cora Jade is in action again, this time against Ember Moon, who not only is making her 205 debut, but is exploring direction following numerous heart wrenching defeats.

Out first for the match is Cora, introduced by Samantha Irvin, the ring announcer for the purple brand. Out after Cora for what is the episodes main event is a fired up Ember Moon, a former NXT Womens Champion and the former tag team partner of her fellow former NXT Womens Tag Team Champion Shotzi Blackheart, her frustrations referenced by Nigel McGuinness. Regardless of frustration, she is welcomed by the crowd chanting her name, and she hears this herself post bell, all before going to lock up with Cora.

Ember locks up with Cora, performing a headlock takedown as she snags the early momentum. Cora performs a headscissor to take over, but Ember eventually bridges and floats her way out, shoving aside Cora and sliding back to her to apply her latest headlock. Cora parts the arms and has Ember caught in her wristlock. Ember snapmares to retaliate but Cora comes back quick, this time with an armbar into a hammerlock. Ember gets free and applies an armbar of her own, her other hand hooked to Cora’s chin. Cora escapes, all during a show of athleticism, then reverts back to her earlier wristlock, but Ember outsmarts again, rolling then arm dragging Cora across. Ember funnily taunts Cora, but then turns up the heat and ends up in Cora’s retaliating headlock. Ember shoves her onward towards the ropes, Cora flying over Embers pressed body then outsmarting her herself with an arm drag. Cora springboards off the ropes and sends Ember for a whirl with her sudden hurricanrana, not even done there as she delivers a jumping knee into the corner to Ember. Cora brings Ember onto the mat and goes for the first pin attempt of the match, ending in Ember kicking out at two.

Following the near fall, Cora uses Embers earlier taunt against her then goes back to the armbar. Ember tries to lift up Cora for a potential slam but Cora floats out of her grip and hooks Embers waist, though Ember ends up hooked to the ropes, forcing back Cora with her own body. Cora returns to Ember, going for the jumping knee again though blocked this time as Ember catches, blocks and tosses her down to the mat with force. Ember starts pulling at Cora’s hair, and becomes more infuriated as shes given shots by Cora. Ember throws a fast flurry of furious forearms at Cora, the aggression to the point where the referee has to force Ember apart from Cora. Cora then rolls up an aggravated Ember suddenly, though Ember makes her way out of it at one.

Cora knocks her back with a dropkick but appears to trigger the aggressive Ember Moon more, as she gives Cora a deathly glare, screams then brings her onto the ring post, attacking the exposed back with a flurry of knees then driving her into and over the opposite corners middle turnbuckle. Cora is so hurt that she doesnt make it fully up off the ringside floor by the count of nine, forcing Ember to slide quickly to the outside to restart the count while getting Cora herself. Ember returns to the ring shortly after Cora but is rolled into Cora’s latest pin attempt, ending this time with Cora getting a near fall.

Ember superkicks Cora out of revenge, following with a pop up powerbomb after collecting Cora post rope run, then slamming her over her own shoulder before adding a vicious stomp. Ember chucks aside Cora then makes her way to the top rope, waiting for Cora to rise up off the mat to then connect with the usual finishing Eclipse. Ember wins the match.

Thoughts On This Match:
Im glad that this match wasnt just random and had an actual direction to it, as it not just referenced to Embers frustrations, but the story saw the new version of Ember gradually beginning to come out, an aggressive heel/heel-ish side of her not seen since the Mixed Match Challenge to a degree, an aggression that got her the victory that the previous Ember Moon couldnt get. I think theres potential in a storyline between the two from here. Have Ember be apologetic for her aggression towards Cora on NXT and tell her that she sees potential in her and Ember takes her under her wing, telling her to listen to her advice to get ahead and not Treys. Eventually Cora sees through Ember and Ember turns on her and Trey becomes influenced by Cora’s fighting spirit and bravery that he looks to her like the superhero he referenced on NXT. I think that could easily be done and, again, theres potential to it.
