Cattie’s Catch Up: Bayley vs Sasha Banks vs Charlotte for the RAW Womens Championship at WWE Clash of Champions 2016 (September, 25th 2016)

Welcome all to this weeks midweek throwback post, which just so happens to follow the theme of the next WWE Pay Per View to be in the books, Clash of Champions. The Pay Per View event that replaced Night of Champions (but kept the theme of champions defending their titles) returns this year after a years hiatus, and on the debut event came not only the next part of the Charlotte/Sasha Banks feud that dominated the PPV scene women’s wise that year, but Bayleys first main roster championship match on a PPV, as the former Women’s Tag Team Champions battled their fellow Horsewoman, Charlotte, for the RAW Women’s Championship in a Triple Threat Match.

Bayley had made her move to the main roster post Summerslam, and quickly gained wins not only over Charlotte’s assistant at the time, Dana Brooke, but the RAW Women’s Champion herself. A Triple Threat saw Sasha Banks return to the scene and regain momentum, as well as another chance at the championship, but the seeming double pin was later debated, thus brought RAWs then General Manager Mick Foley to a decision, adding Bayley to the match alongside Sasha. In the ending moments, Sasha came close to regaining the championship lost at Summerslam, applying the Bank Statement to her NXT Rival, Bayley, only for Charlotte to interfere in the possible submission finish. Charlotte would go on to clear Sasha from the ring, attacking her on the outside then sending Bayley into her later during Sasha’s attempt to make it back to the ring, then booting Bayley in the face to retain the title, continuing her dominance and her PPV streak.
