IMPACT WRESTLING RESULTS: Kelly Picks Next Target and Two High Stakes Matches Matches Lead to a Departure and Return (November 10th 2022)

Welcome all to the latest IMPACT Wrestling report, talking all things Knockouts coming from last nights episode. In the second to last eventful episode before Over Drive, a feud comes to a head as Mickie James looks to sacrifice her career against the woman who previously beat her, Chelsea Green. Plus, its another big match on the card, as Jordynne Grace’s Knockouts Championship is on the line against Gisele Shaw, and the two women main event.

But before any of that, the Knockouts are on the “Before the Impact” pre show as well. Killer Kelly has her first match since the culminating of her feud with Tasha Steelz, the haunting Knockout making her way down to the ring first. Her Opponent is a visiting, unsigned face in the form of FSW’s Sandra Moone.

Towards the end of the match, Sandra aims clubbing blows to either side of Kelly, but Kelly blocks both. Kelly knocks back Sandra with a headbutt then proceeds with a senton in a corner to Sandra. Kelly teases the Killer Clutch but Sandra avoids being caught in it as she arm drags Kelly over her head to the mat. Sandra connects with a shot to the side of the jaw but as she sets up next offense, Kelly makes an escape and drags Sandra down to the mat, her Killer Clutch locked in which Sandra soon taps out to. Kelly wins the match.

Then its over to the main show, the first Knockouts moment of the show being a backstage segment featuring Gisele Shaw. The contender to the Knockouts Championship is with Jai Vidal, who has made a video specifically for his associate, to capture hopefully the beauty, the fierceness and viciousness of Gisele Shaw. She hopes also that its going to be good, because at the end of the night shes leaving as the Knockouts Champion and she wants to plaster this video all over social media. Jai knows the only clip missing currently is the winning image of her holding up the Knockouts Championship after defeating Jordynne, but proceeds to the current package anyway. The narrated package features comments from Deonna, Mickie, Tommy Dreamer, Eddie Edwards, Scott D’Amore, Gail Kim, Lance Storm and Matt Cardona, though some of those comments are edited with a voiceover by Jai.

Later, Rosemary and Knockouts Tag Team Champion Taya Valkyrie flank a sad looking Jessicka, as Taya’s fellow Knockouts Tag Team Champion is down from the most recent defeat against Savannah Evans. Rosemary, despite her berating of Jessicka in the past, insists its no big deal, as everyone falls in combat at some point, even she and Taya have experienced defeat before. Jessicka reminds Rosemary its her first loss and she doesnt know how to feel, like nothing matters anymore. Rosemary understands a loss is difficult at first, and especially as they are heading into Overdrive, but Taya thinks a drink will sort the trick. Rosemary instantly says no, because what Jessicka instead needs is fire, hatred and fuel everything shes feeling right now and whats making her upset and next week channel it on Tasha and rip her apart and bite her face off. Jessicka is still down and leaves after a monotone response. Rosemary asks where shes going and Jessicka tells her that she thinks she needs a drink, which is exactly what Rosemary protested against.

Speaking of Jessicka, Alisha catches up with her elsewhere backstage, checking up on her. Jessicka tells her shes okay now, and she even has a self help book, which is ODB’s recently released first book. Apparently the book has advised her to keep drinking and asks Alisha if she wants one. Alisha declines but Jessicka wasnt intending to hand her a drink anyway, because its already emptied. Jessicka announces her intention to go to the thunder down under and see the real Aussie Open. She says goodbye to Alisha after doing ODB’s Bam taunt.

Alisha then finds her husband, Eddie Edwards, and approaches the once leader of Honor No More. She informs him that shes had a few weeks to think but shes still troubled and concerned. Eddie wonders why because he remembers Alisha’s ultimatum, that it was Honor No More or their marriage, and he ended up parting from Honor No More. Alisha knows Eddie better than anybody so she knows how she feels when she feels it may not be actually over. Eddie suggests it is over but he has one last thing to do before things are officially dead and buried, but he did that last week, burying PCO along with Honor No More. Now its just them, ride or die. Alisha repeats those last three words, but sounds barely convinced by Eddie.

Following that meeting, its off to the ring for the first Knockouts match on the main card, Chelsea Green against Mickie James in the continuation of “the Last Rodeo”. Chelsea makes her way to the ring alongside Deonna Purrazzo, while Mickie enters alone, having asked Taylor Wilde before to keep out of the situation, as she has to take care of things on her own.

Towards the end of the match, Chelsea tries to whip Mickie into the referee but Mickie holds off a collision. Chelsea goes to pump kick Mickie from behind, but she misses Mickie and the referee is knocked onto the mat instead. However, even with that having happened, Chelsea looks unbothered and returns to Mickie, who switches the momentum by flapjacking her to the mat. Mickie rises to the top rope to follow up but Deonna sneaks to ringside, though swept off the apron by Taylor Wilde, who brawls with the Virtuosa to the back. Mickie, meanwhile, fights off Chelsea’s interference and plants her with the leaping seated senton, then connects with the Mick-DDT but only just remembers after that the referee is still down. While Mickie is desperate to help him to his feet, Chelsea takes Mickie and connects with the Unprettier. The ref is up following the connection of Chelsea’s finisher and counts, but Chelsea is stunned when Mickie kicks out at two. A rageful Chelsea tries to regain composure ahead of heading to the top rope, then missing her dropkick due to being a little off from Mickie’s position, with Mickie then taking Chelsea by her legs and jackknifing over her to pin her. Mickie wins the match.

Later in the night, Deonna finds Chelsea exiting the Impact Zone with her bags packed. Deonna tries to catch up to her friend and asks her where shes going. Chelsea tells Deonna she was meant to beat Mickie, but Deonna insists its okay. Chelsea fumes that she didnt retire Mickie as intended, and tries to continue on her way but Deonna races after her. Deonna asks where shes going, to which Chelsea replies that she is going home. Deonna wants the best friend to elaborate where, but Chelsea doesnt give that away. She just tells Deonna one last time that shes going home and then well and truly leaves on her own.

Traci Brooks, along with Gail Kim, also appear in the hype package for Frankie Kazarian’s World Championship Match against Josh Alexander at OverDrive, both of which narrate the package at times and hype up the contender to the title, as does Scott D’Amore and Frankie himself.

Once thats culminated, its off to the main event, as Gisele Shaw becomes the first Transgender Woman to main event and to compete for the Knockouts Championship in IMPACT Wrestling. Gisele is accompanied by her executive, stylist and content creator, Jai Vidal, whereas Jordynne Grace, who enters second as the defending champion per tradition, enters alone.

Towards the end of the match, Jordynne tries to roll up Gisele, but Gisele escapes and gets desperate herself with a jackknife cover that Jordynne escapes also, having floated over and scooped up Gisele, powerbombing her to the mat. But the defending champ isnt done there, collecting Gisele again and this time, she connects with the Grace Driver which takes out Gisele, Jordynne pinning the contender to retain. Jordynne wins the match, retaining the Knockouts Championship.

Post Match, Jordynne heads to the ramp to continue the victory celebration, unaware of whose rushing down the ramp behind her. Returning is her former challenger, Masha Slamovich, bashing the back of Jordynne with a wielded steel chair. She smacks Jordynne some more with a steel chair and also kicks her about, then beginning to toss a fresh set of chairs in Jordynne’s direction. Masha stops Jordynne crawling to safety and connects with the Snowplow onto one of the laid out steel chairs. Masha ends the show posing over Jordynne with the Knockouts Championship in hand as a new entrance theme for the ruthless former contender plays.

Thoughts On:
Killer Kelly vs Sandra Moone: I thought this would be a squash match initially, but good to see Sandra get offense in as she is a credible athlete and her personality is a stark contrast to that of Kelly’s which makes them so different as opponents. With so many departures happening or having happened, its time for IMPACT to look deeper at the prospects they are bringing in and get some signed.

Chelsea vs Mickie: Chelsea and Mickie have knocked it out of the park with every match they have done and have great chemistry, and the story and the way the crowd and commentary sell it, as well as how IMPACT build to these matches, make it feel all the more an important fight. At first i thought Chelsea had wrote Mickie out of IMPACT up until she returned, and considering their history, it makes sense for Mickie to be Chelsea’s last match. Ive enjoyed VXT for the time they have been around and it is sad to see them part, especially in a tag division thats thin as it is. Chelsea is apparently WWE bound, which im looking forward to if so, but whats next for Deonna? She doesnt have much left to accomplish title wise in IMPACT other than go for a non female championship. Shes definitely not teaming with Gisele considering how they parted last week. I wouldnt mind VXT v2 if IMPACT brought Rachael back (though it doesnt seem like she left on good terms). She could turn babyface, but i also doubt it. She could team with Maclin against Josh Alexander and his wife, Jade (who is also a wrestler). I wouldnt be surprised, especially with rumors of Deonna’s contract expiring soon, that Mickie is the one to write her out too and both members of VXT end up back in WWE, but i dont know if i see Deonna being back in WWE to be honest. If Hunter is willing to grasp and understand the VXT concept, why not? But at the same time, if Deonna went, it would be a massive blow to the thinning Knockouts Division.

Knockouts Championship Match: A fantastic match between Gisele and Jordynne, as Gisele continues to evolve as a performer and works well when put in big positions like she did on the UK independent scene. Kudos to the spoilers for not giving away the post match return of Masha, which was a genuine surprise. The thing is Masha’s streak is over considering the end of the Bound for Glory match, so if she beats Jordynne, people will wonder why she lost the first time in the first place, but if Jordynne loses, it remains to be seen as to whether it’ll be seen as a long enough title reign, though this reign has definitely been better than her first. I feel like if Jordynne drops the title, she will turn heel and be a massive roadblock in Mickie’s Last Rodeo on route to a Masha vs Mickie match. But if Jordynne wins again, Jordynne will be the last obstacle for Mickie in the Last Rodeo. Time will tell.
