GFW IMPACT WRESTLING RESULTS: The Queen of the North Sets Course for a Possible Knockouts Title Victory (September, 14th 2017)

Welcome all to the IMPACT Wrestling report. This week may have had minimal Knockouts action, but there’s plenty developments to go about. A Week ago Taya of Lucha Underground made her pre hyped appearance on IMPACT following an intense Knockout tag team match, not aiding the attacked babyface Rosemary as so thought but making her her specific target. A Week later Amber Nova is the second target in mind for the Queen of the North as she makes her IMPACT in ring debut. That, plus we get developments with Allie and Braxton Sutter, and though completely unrelated to the show, if anyone’s checked IMPACTs social media, where oh where could IMPACT be hosting their next Bound for Glory event? UK Please!!!!

Braxton Sutter has been booked this week to battle Garza Jr, this being a few weeks after the two had a brief backstage interaction which angered Braxton suddenly. Braxton ends up losing the match and tries to simmer down his anger to take his concerned wife to the back but Allie seems to want none of it, keeping poised with an angry look on her face. Eventually the two end up following each other to the back, where they hopefully talk this recent tension through.

Its not until sometime into hour two that we get the next appearance of Taya Valkyrie. The Lucha Underground Star is making her IMPACT in ring debut a week after making her first IMPACT Wrestling appearance, again as mentioned attacking Rosemary despite possible hinted intentions to save her from Taryn Terrell and the Knockouts Champion Sienna. Amber Nova, who has appeared before on IMPACT, is her scheduled opponent this week, already in the ring as Taya, adorned in red robes, makes another spectacular entrance.

The match starts with Amber evading offense, attempting to capture Taya in a waistlock. At the time Amber also hammers on the back of Taya but Taya performs a reversal into a waistlock that is then turned into a slam after elevating Amber upward in position. Taya attacks the back of Amber then launches her into a nearby turnbuckle head first. Taya whips Amber into an opposite one, and as she charges to that same corner to perform offense, Amber blocks with a kick. Amber jumps off the middle rope, going for a possible hurricanrana only for Taya to stall and then counter into a sit out powerbomb. Its believed Taya might go for the pin there, but she ruthlessly hoists Amber up and connects with the chicken-wing facebuster/glam slam for the three count. Taya wins the match.

Later in the night, Taya storms over to Karen in the backstage area, asking if Karen had saw her performance in the ring earlier. Karen seems to be in the middle of paperwork, which Taya throws away, stunning Karen. Karen acknowledges she saw her match, attempting to congratulate her on the victory but Taya doesn’t take any sort of handshake, instead warning her that she had better have seen the match, because that is what a true queen looks like.

Thoughts On This Match:
It was a typical squash match set up to showcase Taya’s dominance and the power attributes that make her the oncoming threat in the Knockouts Division. Amber got less offense here than in her match with Allie but sold the finishing glam slam well. Speaking of Amber, i believe she isn’t signed to IMPACT so GFW posting her first match entrance on YouTube as a debut comes across misleading, but i do feel she could be signed one day but right now shes in MJ/Ava territory as just enhancement for other Knockouts. I Also wouldn’t mind Taya adding the Asuka Lock to her offense as an alternate finish should the glam slam not take out the biggest opponents in the Knockouts Division, as Taya has hinted on expanding her moveset more in interviews. Sometimes Karen’s presence in the KOs segments or in the division overall can be overdone but when she first acknowledged Taya’s debut and how she quoted that she didn’t know her as much as she thought she did, i think there’s potential to use their five year backstory at a later time or even during Taya’s feud with Rosemary. Maybe Taya’s belief that shes a queen one day makes her a higher power than the Queen of the Mountain, either turning Karen heel to aid her like with Gail and Madison, or Taya’s power soon causes her to force Karen to be the reason she wins the Knockouts Title? Karen is the forced babyface like Velvet with Chris Sabin back in the day, screwing Gail or maybe even a double turn during a Taya vs Sienna match? Just a thought.
